Earlobe Repair

Remember when you were dying to get your ears pierced for the first time? And how special you felt wearing your first earrings? But many women who’ve had pierced ears for several years develop problems that make wearing earrings difficult or impossible. If you’re one of these, you’ll be glad to know that there’s help! Earlobe repair takes care of the downside of pierced ears. If the following describes your situation, Dr. Fairfield will be delighted to provide you with earlobe repair and make wearing earrings a pleasure again.

Over time, the weight of earrings drags at the delicate tissue of your earlobes. Many women see elongated piercing holes, and some have had their lobes split completely! The changes can mean that your earrings hang lower than they should, or the two sides are not in balance. It can restrict your choice of earrings to those that will stay in, leading limited fashion options. Some people can’t even wear studs at all any more, because they fall out. And the larger, bolder styles take a toll every time you wear them.

The cause of these earlobe problems is often improper placement of the original hole and of the first earring in the lobe. Then, heavier earrings migrate downward. Add to that pulling when an earring gets caught by clothing, the telephone, small children, cats – and the “slot” can elongate further. And the risk of an elongated slot, over time, is a complete tear. It’s ugly and discouraging.

Dr. Fairfield has developed an earlobe repair procedure using plastic surgery techniques. This procedure not only leaves virtually no detectable scar, but Dr. Fairfield also puts a new earring in at suture removal time – just to celebrate that you can wear the earrings you want again!
