Stress and How to “Deal”

Posted in Oscars Blog at 10:58 am by Oscar

Hi — Oscar here.

I wanna talk about stress.  It was brought home to me yesterday BIG TIME on my routine visit to the vet.

We cats have a special “rip your heart out” moan (for sympathy) saved just for these occasions.

My person (the doctor) simply turned his CD player to beautiful music … put his fingers through the wire of the cage door and stroked my head.  No more moaning.  I made it through the experience (expressing an appropriate amount of indignity of course) and on the way home … he did the same.

My person (the doctor) has a really big heart and a very soft side to him.  I make sure he knows he is loved — unconditionally.  It’s the least I can do.

Made me think how he handles stress — because I know through living with him that he, like you, has his share of stress.

So, I want to share with you how he does it.

I’ve noticed when my person (the doctor) is stressed he’s not his usual bouncy (sometimes really funny) self.  He gets quiet and thoughtful.

He then talks to me (’cause there’s no one else around) and says, “Oscar — something is really bothering me and I want you to know I’m not going to blame circumstances or other people for it.  It’s up to me to figure it out and either understand it — or fix it.”  He has no clue I understand … though he’s been suspicious lately.  Like when he says, “It’s bedtime” and I run up the stairs to our bedroom.

Back to how he handles stress ….

He will put on his beautiful music (like Jim Brickman’s piano playing) and begin to write.  He writes a list of what’s bothering him — and reasons he thinks ‘why’ and then action steps necessary to remedy the situation.

Then he takes action.  Sometimes his action is imperceptible — like closing his eyes and just “being with his feelings” — not suppressing them — just experiencing them until they dissipate.  He told me once that this was the hardest thing for him to learn — because of the natural tendency people have to want to keep bad feelings around so they feel justified feeling badly towards someone.

I looked at him quizzically one day — asking him why he felt so strongly about this.  He smiled and said, “What possible good can I be to others if I carry all of this useless emotion around?”  ”Besides — I feel better about myself afterward — and my troubles seem smaller Oscar.”

Heavy stuff.  Humans are so complex and carry so much hurt around.

I feel sorry for them.  Glad my person (the doctor) has at least figured some of this out.

‘Till next time,

Oscar

"Event a Resounding Success"

Posted in Main at 10:00 am by Doctor

My staff and I want to thank you for coming out to your Client Appreciation Day and Open House.

It was a lot of fun … and a smashing success … but couldn’t have done it without you.

Question: would you like a similar event in the fall?

Send your answer to info@cmderm.com and we’ll see what we can do.

In the meantime,

Thanks :)

Want to Change the Way You Look in a Bathing Suit?

Posted in Main at 5:22 am by Doctor

How about a Two-Piece?  How about a Bikini?

There are two conditions preventing women from showing off their bodies at the beach, pool, or club.  Okay —  maybe three.

Do any belong to you?

One is fat: tummy fat — upper or lower or both — sometimes with “love handles” (like men have), inner thigh fat, banana rolls, and saddlebags.  Even arm and neck fat are fair game — but this is about your ability to get into your swimwear — and be carefree about it!

The second one is Leg Veins.  Does this one prevent you from getting into a bathing suit at all?  Do you have arcades of tiny red vessels blotching the landscape of your otherwise rockin’ legs?  Maybe you have some big blue ones — making you feel old.

The third is HAIR: the worst is bikini-line hair because when you shave this area you invite dread telltale razor bumps — yuck.  Or your leg hair is dark — and you must shave very day in the summer or people will see what we men call, “the 5 o’clock shadow”.  Is that a nuisance or what?

Here’s the scoop.  You can’t fight your genetics or choose your parents … BUT all of these are treatable – easily transforming you into the girl you long to be again.

You have the opportunity to change how you feel about yourself in time for this summer’s season …

But you better make your decision to do something about it — right now.

Here’s the reason.  Laser Hair Removal takes a few months to clear all of the hair … and depending on your leg vein situation you may need as many as three visits to be ready to show off your legs.

You’re luckier with fat by the way.  With SmartLipo laser assisted liposuction (done in the office) it’s a once-and-done deal.  You still have to wear a thin compressive garment for up to 6 weeks in most cases.  So time is of the essence.

If you’re fed-up enough with these annoying conditions you’ve been putting up with for all this time I have a Special Gift for You — to get you ready for your summer, your photo-ops at graduation, and your appearance at that wedding.

Here it is: In celebration of completed renovations at the Center for Aesthetics coupled with your Bring-a-Friend Appreciation Day this Wednesday, January 21 from 9 AM to 5 PM I’m offering Special Gift Pricing to you on all of these procedures (plus all the other ways we offer to help you).

Besides being a really fun party — you’ll be able to talk with some of our clients who’ve had the very procedures done (that you want).

I’d prefer you call to register (215-361-5030) … or if a last minute decision … just come and register there.  But come!  You won’t regret it.

Fair Warning: This pricing won’t be anything like this for the rest of the year.

Absolutely can’t come?  Still want in on this?  Call our staff at the same number and they’ll see if they can do something for you.

Beautiful body again — all within your reach — easily.

But the rest is up to you — so make that call … right now. :)

And I’ll help you ….

I'm soon going to turn 60 and I don't want to look old!

Posted in Main at 7:47 am by Doctor

Are you going to turn 60 in the next 5 years?  Are you already there?  Have you passed it?

As a former President was fond of saying, “I feel your pain.”

Good news — it’s just another year and if you’ve taken care of yourself and are vibrant and healthy you are no different than you were in your 40’s — just wiser.

But, in the looks department you may not want to look ‘old’.

That’s what the upcoming Open House/Client Appreciation day is all about.

Wednesday, January 21st from 9 to 5 at the Center for Aesthetics you’ll have the chance to learn what you need to roll back that infernal clock!

Come, join in the festivities — call and register: 215-361-5030

See you there — go ahead, ask me how old I am. :)

My Person has Pulled Out all the Stops on This One

Posted in Oscars Blog at 5:38 am by Oscar

Oscar here,

Holy Cats! (Now, where did that phrase come from?)

Have you seen my person’s (the doctor) blog about your Blow-Out Event of this Spring?

You’d be nuts not to attend — meet and mingle with clients who’ve had procedures done — learn the latest innovations for quick and easy permanent laser fat removal (that still gives me the willies but my person tells me it’s a no-brainer) and the latest trends in cosmetic medicine.

And now the Star, Jill Whelan is coming!

So kill the winter doldrums and come out!  It’s Wednesday, January 21st from 9 to 5 — just around the corner right at the Center for Aesthetics.

Hold on, my person is whispering something in my ear — oh yeah — he wants you to call and register so they know how much food to order.  Here’s the number: 215-361-5030.

There’s more: you’ll get to see your newly renovated Center for Aesthetics.  Now, last time I was there I spent my time under my person’s desk — kinda shy you know.

But, I hear it’s a rockin’ place — all serene, peaceful, and easy on the eyes … like me. :)

So mark your calendars and come — and bring friends!

Gotta go monitor the birds … now if I could only move that window out of the way ….

Later,

Oscar

Come and meet Jill Whelan — also known as Vicky from The Love Boat — and the sick girl in the movie Airplane! – and Nurse Nancy on “The Young and the Restless”; Jill’s list is long with so many other quality productions too many to mention here.

We’ve seen a lot of celebrities as clients over the years, but Jill is so special — has captured our hearts … and loves to help us out — and will be a part of the day’s events.

Knowing Jill, she’ll love to meet you!  Jill and I have done a lot of fun radio together … and I’ve come to appreciate Jill as one of Hollywood, Broadway, and Radio’s nicest people.

You’ll fall in love with her just as we have.  Go ahead — ask her what she’s had done here at the Center for Aesthetics. :)

Fair Warning: if you want to meet Jill be sure to come in the morning.

Once again: your event is Wednesday, January 21st from 9 to 5 here at the Center for Aesthetics!

Testimonials

  • "My daughter sees Kristie for microdermabrasion treatments for stubborn blackheads. We had tried many prescription items and Proactiv®. We saw little results. We scheduled a consultation to see what other treatments might help the process of clearing up those stubborn blackheads. Kristie recommended microdermabrasion and after the first 2 treatments a great improvement was noticed and improvement continues with each treatment. Kristie's friendly personality put my daughter right at ease."

  • "I am very pleased with the results of Botox and Restylane! I had 3 deep grooves in between my eyes from squinting (a hereditary thing from my father) and it bothered me! My dad's and aunt's grooves are so big they can hold a dime in the slots. Before my lines got like that, I came to see Dr. Fairfield. He did Restylane and I am so happy with the results! Don't hesitate if it bothers you! The staff and Dr. Fairfield are wonderful and they are here for you! Thanks!"

  • "I've had three Fraxel treatments so far and already see tremendous improvement. The overall texture of my skin is smooth and clear of red spots. The deep crevices from nose down to chin is much less pronounced and best of all I can curl my eyelashes again. So, my brows were lifted too!

Amy, Sherley and Kristie were competent and caring as usual.

So with one more treatment to go I believe I can stave off having a thread lift for five or more years."
