Ever notice how so many companies are scrambling to get on the green bandwagon? They are actually making great effort to let us all know they are environmentally conscious.
Is this a real concern … or just marketing? I always like to think first of good intentions by people — and companies are run by people — so I endorse environmental efforts … no matter the reason.
But what about service industries like The Center for Aesthetics? How do we become more environmentally conscious and then be able to tell all about how we do it? We already do most record keeping by computer — only keep hard copies of active charts for two years by scanning old charts for electronic medical records. That’s cool. Everything HIPPA secure and retrievable.
But what else? I’m gonna ask you to take a stretch of your mental muscles while I segue into looking natural — you know — like Mother Earth meant you to be – as our way of keeping things on an even keel with the green movement.
One of the fears and frustrations I’ve heard reported by you — our clients — has been concern cosmetic procedures will make you look plastic, or unnatural.Â
Another is cost itself. Especially in the arena of cosmetic procedures does the phrase “you get what you pay for” apply. Sure, you can tire kick and go for bargain basement Botox … and get bargain basement results. Now I get Botox — just like you — and would never choose anyone but the best for this tricky treatment.
Another is concern your investment won’t last. That’s a big one considering today’s gas prices. These procedures aren’t cheap, yet at the same time considering the benefits aren’t too costly either – but in order to justify investing in them some guarantee of permanence or at least, longevity would be nice.
Another is pain … who wants it?
Another is disfigurement … how scary is that?
Another is who to go to? Even GP’s, ER doctors, and many others (with no clue by training about the skin or laser physics) have gone in to cosmetic medicine. How do you know who to entrust your body and especially, your face to?
And then there’s the flip side — your wants and deeply held desires.Â
As many of you who read my blog know, I’ve had quite a few procedures myself — and it’s not just to test new lasers or products — though that is my policy — me first instead of my clients … just in case there’s a downside. I’ve returned several lasers just because I didn’t like what they did to me. I’m your first guard against having something screw up — and have the scars to prove it. But there’s something else …
I too, want to look my best, look naturally younger and at the top of my game — okay — even sexy. And I hated my little fat roll hanging over my belt.Â
Who did I call? No — not Ghost Busters! I chose my staff to SmartLipo me under my guidance. Now I’m slim and trim and comfortable we can deliver on results … to you.
But for me the bottom line is I no longer wince at my image in the mirror. I now smile a little, thinking, “Not bad!”
Even I, admittedly the expert in cosmetic medicine am quite human. I too have wants and desires, fears and frustrations.
And I want the best … for me. It’s that important. So I “get it” when you tell me what you’re afraid of and what, down deep, you really want … for you.
Most of our best clients become our friends because one on one … we’re in this together.
Special note: please add your comments to this blog. I’d love to know what you are thinking.
And yeah — here’s to a safer, greener world too.
